If you by chance are an electrical locksmith and plan to install or repair electrical locks or circuits of greater than 24 volts then you will also be required to obtain an additional license under the Electrical Licensing Act.
You can read more about that here (if it applies to you): https://oklahoma.gov/content/dam/ok/en/cib/documents/your-industry/electrical-industry/title_59_electrical_license_act.pdf
A Few Other Notes
If you are a trainee or would like to apply for a temporary license you can do so via the Department of Labor.
Also, keep in mind the license is only valid for 1 year and must be renewed.

I am a mechanic and am wanting to incorporate popping locks and lock replacement in my business and need to know all the steps I need to take to be in compliance with the law I currently reside in oklahoma? Thank you for your time
Locksmith Expert says
Scotty, you will need to request an application for locksmith licensure from the Oklahoma Department of Labor (using the contact info above). If you already have a business registered in Oklahoma, it should be pretty easy to get approved.
Ryan says
I am interested in adding simple rekeying services to my repertoire and also limited door opening for owners of rental properties that have been vacated through eviction. I do not have a business registered in my name because I just work under my name. How do I go about getting a license?
Locksmith Expert says
Ryan, I recommend contacting the Oklahoma Department of Labor. You will likely need to request an application for licensure.

I’m 20 years old, I have high school diploma and no college. I’m wondering what options I have for becoming a locksmith. I’m not happy in my current field and locksmithing has always interested me. I’m very mechanically inclined and I’m willing to do about anything but I’m wondering if there’s an apprenticeship program for this.
